Roadmaster Operator / Driver - Based in Co. Meath

This vacancy is for a Specified Purpose Contract to run on an ongoing long-term basis serving our client in Meath.

The role is suitable for experienced HGV drivers who live in County Meath, and who want to do more than just drive! 

Reporting to the Business Manager Ireland, this is a 39 hour a week role. The pay rate is €22 per hour, Monday to Friday. 

You will be home every evening and have weekends off.

Travel may be required to Company HQ in Jamestown, Carrick on Shannon for initial training and on rare occasions.  

As an employee of our company, you will be responsible for the operation of the Roadmaster™ Patcher Machine to carry out road maintenance and surface patching. The Roadmaster™ is a self-contained unit carrying bitumen emulsion and aggregate (stone chips). The driver, working from the cab of the truck, controls the delivery of a mix of bitumen emulsion and stone chips to the repair area. This requires skill and judgement and delivers a speedy and long-lasting repair to the damaged area.


You will report to the Business Manager Ireland and will be expected to work in cooperation with local council road engineers.

As this role will represent the Company on  daily basis at client sites, you are expected to be presentable at all times and professional in your communications with others. 

This role is best suited to a pleasant individual, who holds a clean valid truck driving licence and enjoys working with plant, and has the ability to use a smartphone and tablet.

Responsibilities

  • Perform road repairs & maintenance as directed to the standard required
  • Driving a Roadmaster Patcher to various worksites and maintaining the vehicle in a clean and professional manner
  • Achieve client targets at work site as requested
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations and compliance with same
  • Wear appropriate PPE for the job at all times
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and reports as required ( daily, weekly, ad-hoc)
  • Carry out daily defect checks, update the workshop on any repairs required & carry out small defect repairs when necessary with guidance
  • Daily communication with your manager and ability to follow directions while providing valid input regarding job tasks

Must Have

  • 3+ years  professional HGV driving experience ( rigid/artic)
  • Hold a full valid clean Category C or CE Driving Licence
  • Must have a Driver Qualification Card and up to date CPC, and hold a Digital Tachograph Card 
  • Must be motivated and have the flexibility to work at various sites within the county
  • Must be able to use a smartphone and tablet, apps and email
  • The ability to act in a professional manner and have a history of providing good customer service to all parties
  • Be a team player and also be comfortable working alone; must demonstrate a “can-do” approach to work
  • Must have strong communication skills with fluent English
  • Must be eligible to live and work in Ireland

Nice to have

  • A valid Solas Safe Pass Card
  • A Signing Lighting and Guarding at Roadworks Qualification (3-day course) & valid CSCS SLG card.  Training can be provided if necessary.
  • Previous experience in the use of road repair materials, highway maintenance and Local Authority procedures, while not necessary would be an advantage
  • Previous experience on plant & machinery with a good eye for level surfaces and irregularities would be helpful
